GUILDFORD MP SUE DOUGHTY THANKS CANCER RESEARCH SUPPORTERS

12.00.00am GMT Mon 10th Nov 2003

Surrey and Guildford people have put in an unprecedented amount of support this year for Cancer Research UK. I would like to thank everyone for the efforts they have made in the last month. Many shops which have been promoting Breast Cancer Awareness, the lingerie staff at Marks and Spencer's ran their own event, Harrington's Hairdressers opened especially on a Sunday and several hundred people joined me and the Deputy Mayor in the Stride for Life. Indeed there are more events to come. Not only have people raised a great deal of money for Cancer Research, but they have helped to promote Breast Cancer Awareness which is so important to ensure that cancer can be spotted and dealt with at an early stage. The continuing efforts of local people raise funds essential if we are to beat cancer.
