Alexander Dennis is the largest UK automotive company

Shadow Lib Dem Chancellor visited bus chassis producers Alexander Dennis at their Slyfield factory this week.

Accompanied by Sue Doughty, who knows the organisation well after it nearly went under after parent company Transbus collapsed Vince had the opportunity to tour the factory and to see the quality of work which goes into making a bus chassis. Alexander Dennis is now the largest British owned automotive business we have.

During his tour Vince saw the Disability friendly buses which are now world leaders, and most importantly the dual fuel Enviro range of buses which carry more passengers and have a much lower carbon footprint which are selling widely from Hong Kong to Las Vegas.

The key issue for Vince is to push for a level business playing field to ensure that the UK market takes advantage of the home grown offering which can produce cost and carbon savings for local councils and bus companies.
